Firstly, to make the request you must have legal residence in the country in which you currently live. Secondly, you need to be in a situation of real need, that is, not have enough money to survive.

And thirdly, you must be a victim of at least one of the following situations:

  1. Victim of crimes against physical integrity;

If you meet the requirements mentioned above, you will be entitled to monthly financial assistance. However, it is essential to have documents that prove the prerequisites.

The amount of support may vary, taking into account your physical and financial needs, and the income of your entire household. Furthermore, to define the value, the reason behind the request is taken into account.

Furthermore, the amount of support considers the poverty threshold of the country in which you live. On the other hand, if you leave the country where you requested support, you must notify a consulate as soon as possible and formalize your situation.

Therefore, your request may be re-evaluated by the destination country. However, the government may interrupt its aid in some cases, such as the death of those who requested support, their return to Portugal or the end of the grace period.
